Proactive Security for Convergent Communication
Focus and Goals
The project PROSEC aims at developing novel technology for securing convergent communication, ranging from protecting Internet telephony to shielding cloud-based communication from future threats.
Proactive concepts from computer security, such as honeypots and honeyclients, are coupled with techniques from machine learning and statistics. This combination of "observers" and "learners" allows for automatically analyzing, detecting and stopping security threats, such as network attacks and malicious software. By integrating proactive technology directly into communication infrastructures, an intelligent security shield can be established that helps to fend off attacks from modern communication.
Partners and Funding
The project is conducted by Technische Universität Berlin, the University of Göttingen, Alcatel-Lucent Deutschland and Idalab. It is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
The project has a running time of three years and started in April 2011.
